Dr. John Justine S. Villar appointed as new DCS Chairman

John Justine S. Villar, Ph.D. is the newly appointed Chair of the Department of Computer Science, College of Engineering. He will be serving the department from September 1, 2022, for a three-year period. His predecessor, Jaymar Soriano, D.Sc., who has served as Chair since 2019, will return to his full-time faculty position in the department.

Dr. Villar is a faculty adviser at the Scientific Computing Laboratory of the Department of Computer Science, where he currently holds the Dean Reynaldo Vea Professorial Chair. He is also concurrently a Research and Extension Fellow at the Intelligent Transportation Laboratory of the UP National Center for Transportation Studies. He received his MS in Applied Mathematics and PhD in Computer Science, from the University of the Philippines Diliman.
