DCS Call for Hiring (May 2021) - updated

The Department of Computer Science of the University of the Philippines – Diliman is inviting applications for a FULL-TIME faculty position -

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational attainment -
    • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, or allied field, from a reputable institution, or –
    • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or allied field (from a reputable institution), and currently in advanced stages of a Master’s degree in Computer Science or allied field in a reputable institution
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral in English
  • Can teach basic CS courses such as Programming
  • Can work in teams, even as lab handler (team member)
  • Can lead teams, and mentor teaching assistants
  • Has a publication/presentation record in reputable venues and publications (IEEE/ACM conferences/journals, Scopus-indexed journals)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Area of interest falls under digital electronics (i.e., combinational and sequential circuit design, memories, PLDs) and/or advanced programming techniques (i.e., abstract data types, algorithm design paradigms, coding techniques) – can teach undergraduate versions of these courses at a highly competent level (proof needed)
  • Can handle laboratory classes
  • For Ph.D.-degree holding applicants – capable of teaching graduate level courses, as well as mentoring/advising graduate students
  • Capable of proposing and leading research projects
