DCS celebrates CS Week 2024 with the theme "FANTASIA"

The Department of Computer Science community celebrated CS Week last May 13-17. CS Week, an annual event for the DCS community, featured activities that featured student works, educated and enriched the student body, and recreational events. This year's CS Week has the theme "FANTASIA" and is the largest such celebration in years.
Events that featured student work include the "KOLOKYAL Colloquium", which showcased CS 199 project through posters and presentations, as well as the launch of the "IoT Cup 2024". The IoT Cup is an annual event which serves as the capstone project of the CS 145 course (handled this year by instructors Jerome Beltran and Kevin Atienza). The IoT Cup also featured talks by Atty. Jocel Dilag, a lawyer-innovator and educator at UPD and AIM, Mr. Morris Bana, a certified STEAM robotics educator and instructor at DLSU-IS, Mr. Basti Ortiz, DCS's favorite coding guru.
Enrichment events include "InnovCamp 2024" with the theme "Svelte Surge: Revving up Web Dev for Peak Performance" and "Battle Royal for UP Hackers (BRUH)", which was handled by UP ACM, and the CS Network.
Recreational events include "K++ Karaoke Night" (sponsored by the UP Center for Student Innovations), a Mindfulness Caravan, and CS Night, which took place at TROPICO = SJ Events' Place, 150 Matatag St. Diliman, QC.
Also of note is the book signing session and keynote lecture of DCS' only Professor Emeritus, Professor Evangel Quiwa.
